Community Gatekeepers Trained
Whether training a small country church or the 101st Airborne more than 23,000 individuals across the US have taken the Intervene Challenge to gain the skills that save lives. The Challenge is based on the work of Army Chaplain Lou Koon in conducting more than 1,700 suicide interventions and features the five core values set forth in Lou's book Listen Learn Lead (A Model for Suicide Intervention).

Individuals that accept the Challenge help to build a culture of mental health as Community Gatekeepers who are ready, willing, and able to serve individuals at risk of suicide. They know that INTERVENTION SAVES LIVES!

One Mission - The Eradication of Suicide

Along with a primary emphasis on the reduction of veteran and first responder suicides, AFM's Intervene Challenge provides training for all people in keeping with our creed as soldiers to serve the people of the United States of America.

Through AFM individuals at risk find an authentic power to choose life. As a Fireman with 10 years of service recently said, "AFM has ignited a culture of health that literally saved my life."

We invite you to join us.  Take the Challenge or better yet, contact us today about organizing the Intervene Challenge for your community.  At AFM we provide Donors, Volunteers, and Community Advocates a platform to eradicate suicide and transform lives.
AFM Leadership

People are Talking

I had the privilege of participating in the Intervene Challenge in 2016. As a result of the training I arranged for members of the 101st Airborne at Ft Campbell to do the same. Suicide can be reduced. Lives can be saved. It will take the efforts of many within our communities willing to engage those that are hurting. Those that truly want to make a difference in reducing suicide would be well served and prepared by taking AFM's Intervene Challenge and learning the L3 model.

It is not hyperbole when I say Listen Learn Lead and the Intervene Challenge was the most impactful professional learning I have encountered in my 20-year career. I left the training a different person, equipped with the skills to save a life. I recommend this training, to everyone.
